TESTIMONIALS
pialli/HOla/Hello! My name is Samantha (Sammie) Torres (she/her/ella), a proud Chicana woman residing on the ancestral lands of the Ute, Arapahoe, and Cheyenne peoples—now known as Denver, CO. As a passionate plant medicine advocate, activist, and guide, I am dedicated to fostering healing, connection, and empowerment through ancestral wisdom and natural remedies.
sammie is a first-generation Chicana community organizer, plant medicine guide, and apprentice to Curanderismo, as handed down through the wisdom of her lineage. She is deeply committed to advocating for Indigenous medicine, psychedelic healing, and ethical engagement with ancestral traditions. Through her work, she offers natural medicine ceremonies that include preparation, ceremony guidance, and integration support—honoring the sacred relationship between humans and the plant medicines that have lived long before us.
With over five years of experience supporting individuals, organizations, and communities throughout the Denver Metro area, Sammie serves as a humble steward of Los Niños Santos (psilocybin), navigating the surge of interest in psychedelics with respect for the Indigenous communities that have preserved these traditions. Her work is rooted in reciprocity, ensuring that those who have carried these medicines for generations remain at the center of the conversation.
Sammie is a Board Director and Treasurer of The Mycoalition, a grassroots organization dedicated to fostering community health and responsible psychedelic stewardship. The Mycoalition works to advance policies and frameworks that empower community sovereignty through education, organizing, and advocacy. The organization is committed to integrating traditional wisdom, modern science, and equitable access to create a holistic approach to medicine work and community healing in Colorado.
Before stepping fully into advocacy and healing work, Sammie spent a decade at Starbucks, where she advanced to the corporate level and played a pivotal role in a successful unionization campaign, demonstrating her leadership and commitment to worker empowerment. After leaving the corporate world, she redirected her efforts toward holistic healing, community care, and education on safe and ethical plant medicine practices.
Sammie travels annually to Mexico/Anahuac to strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities and deepen her learning beyond Western frameworks. She is the co-founder of the Mycelial Reciprocity Fund, an initiative providing direct resources to cultures that steward the earth and its ancestral wisdom. Through continuous study—from community teachers, up-to-date research, ancestors, and Mother Earth herself—her mission is to help others come back home to themselves while fostering a culture of respect, healing, and interconnection.
